Russia: Blast at St Petersburg metro kills ten

(Sennaya Ploshchad station) A nail bomb was thrown into a train carriage at Sennaya Ploshchad station in the centre of Russia’s second biggest city today.

Photographs from the scene showed a metro train in the station with one set of doors blown out, and a number of people on the ground with injuries.

The news agency TASS reported 10 people had died and 20 were injured in the blast.
